8. Get-Rich-Quick Mentality & Practices
Avoid shady deals or get-rich-quick schemes. Repay loans promptly, as instructed in 2 Kings 4:7, and maintain integrity in all transactions. Dishonesty invites divine disapproval and failure.
“Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase” Proverbs 13:11 KJV
A criminal mindset seeking instant wealth without effort leads to ruin. Chasing fleeting pleasures, like lavish lifestyles beyond your means, undermines sustainable success. True wealth comes through diligent labor and patience.
9. Lack of Planning
Without planning, failure is certain. Strategic planning for production, finance, and human resources is essential. In Egypt, Joseph foresaw an imminent famine (Genesis 41), and his foresight in storing grain exemplifies the power of planning to avert failure. Likewise, Jesus Himself taught the principle of counting the cost before building.
“For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, count the cost, whether he has sufficient to finish it” Luke 14:28 KJV
You need to draw a practical plan for production, finance, and human resources of your business. Place priority on activities that will yield maximum potential return at the top of your list.
10. Eating Your Future Today
The prodigal son in Luke 15:13-14 squandered his inheritance, leading to want. Living beyond your means, buying unaffordable phones, clothes, or vacations, depletes resources needed for growth. Prioritise investments over extravagance.
And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.” Luke 15:13-14 KJV
11. Chasing Money Over Value
If your sole motivation is profit, you risk compromising integrity and missing true success. Focus on creating value, as those who create value master wealth, not vice versa. When you chase money, chances are very high that you will compromise.
“The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” 1 Timothy 6:10

12. Neglecting Self-Development
2 Timothy 2:15 urge continuous growth: “Study to show yourself approved unto God.” The marketplace demands innovation and relevance. Attend workshops, read books, and invest in personal development to stay competitive. A business cannot grow beyond the capacity of its founder. You can never be drowned in the ocean of personal development
“The finning pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: But the Lord trieth the hearts” Proverbs 17:3 KJV
Self development has a way of producing the best version of you. The world is changing rapidly, hence you must keep up with innovation in that business. Never stop learning.
13. Over-Emotional Decisions
Business should be run with wisdom, not sentiment. Controlled generousity or poor boundaries can drain resources,
14. Lack of Focus
Philippians 3:13 emphasizes focus: “This one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.” Distraction dilutes effort and delays success. Concentrate on your God-given assignment to achieve undeniable results.
Pray These Prayers:
- Father, deliver me from every root of failure in my life, career, and business.
- Expose and disgrace every agent of deceit hindering my progress in Jesus’ name.
- Lord, grant me wisdom to align with Your vision for my life.
- Let every altar of failure erected against me catch fire in Jesus’ name.
- Anoint me with success and let every closed door open by Your mighty hand.
- By the blood of Jesus, I erase every mark of failure from my destiny.
- Powers polluting my success, be destroyed in Jesus’ name.
Conclusion – “Occupy till I come” (Luke 19:13)
Failure is not your portion when you walk in God’s principles. By acknowledging Him as the source, seeking His vision, preparing diligently, and acting with integrity, you can turn setbacks into stepping stones. As Proverbs 13:22 promises, “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” Commit to God’s Word, plan strategically, and focus on creating value. With divine guidance and practical wisdom, you will not only succeed but sustain success in life, career, and business. Embrace God’s call to engage in purposeful business and watch Him make your way prosperous.
