Nothing works in life without the application of the requisite principles. Principles are the regulatory laws that govern a thing. For the believer in Christ Jesus, the Bible is the authorised Book (manual) containing the principles of God for how life should be lived. Many pray like Elijah but suffer like Lazarus; they work every day of their lives but eat like peasants simply because they fail to adhere to principles. You cannot embrace knowledge and still suffer. No matter how you pray, if you don’t follow principles, struggling becomes the order of the day.
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8
Contained in God’s manual are principles for mastery in life. Life is regulated by principles and when you follow divine principles, you don’t struggle. You must understand that there is the place of prayers and there is the place of principles. For God, Most High to gain humanity back to Himself, of course He could wish it to be; He could command or even compel it to be but NO. What did He do? He simply gave His Only Begotten Son as a ransom and sacrifice so as to win the entire humanity back to Himself. What a lesson. This is simply a demonstration of one of the principles of life, which is that of giving and receiving.

Little wonder this year 2021 has been declared OUR YEAR OF PRAYER & PRINCIPLES, the reason being that many have always prayed but they never get results. As a farmer, you don’t sleep or sit back in the comfort of your home and begin to render hot or violent prayers and expect to harvest at the end of the season. If you pray during seedtime, then expect to reap a lot and even lots of ‘prayers’ at harvest time. If nothing is sown, then nothing would be harvested, period. Your prayers will never metamorphose into harvest. As you pray, you must also learn to apply the right principles in life.
“If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.” Job 36:11-12
It is interesting to observe that most of those getting uncommon results don’t even pray like many out there. Have ever wondered why even unbelievers, who do not pray like you do, have results? Because they simply key into the same principles of life which believers tend to want to override with prayers. Friend, it doesn’t work that way. The key is obedience and obedience to simple principles of life. The difference between them is in their adherence to principles. An obedient ‘illiterate’ will succeed far beyond an elite who is disobedient in spiritual matters.
“My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments.” Proverbs 3:1
10 Principles to daily live by… (Proverbs 3:3-32)
1. Mercy and Truth (verse 4). You must learn to show mercy in life because God is always merciful to us all despite our excesses and limitation.
2. Trust and obey the Lord (verse 5). You must learn to put total trust in God, and not in your mathematics. When you always have alternatives to Him, you stop divine intervention.
3. Don’t be wise in your eyes (verse 7). It is pride before God to be wise in your own eyes. Always depend on Him for knowledge and instructions in your dealings. shun evil and fear God.
4. Honour the Lord with your life and with all your substance (verse 9). When you give God first place in your life and with your substance you go from looking up to men to being looked up to by men.
5. Don’t despise the chastisement of God (verse 11). The rod is meant to correct you and the staff is to direct you. When you do bad and you are caught, it is because God loves you so much more than the people who always escape.
6. Get wisdom and understanding (verse 13-24). Go for Information. Read books in your area of specialization. If you want to be great, read the books of great people. If your wardrobe is richer than your bookshelf, your future is not certain. Great people get their inspirations from somewhere. Read the Bible as you read other books, don’t side-line it because you are pursuing secular information. The Bible is the source of all wisdom.
7. Don’t be Afraid (verse 25). By principle, whatever you fear most usually happens. The reason is that you attract your fears faster than your dreams. Don’t be afraid of your future or what life may bring. Be courageous that all will be well.
8. Don’t withhold good from those who deserve/need it (verse 27). Man can be a god to man or a devil to man. Man is either a blessing to his fellow man or otherwise. God has put the answer to the prayer of some people in your hands, don’t withhold it. When you are the boss in an office and someone on your team deserves promotion, don’t withhold it. Those who withhold the good of others inadvertently withhold their own good too.
Isaiah 33:1
9. Don’t plot evil against anyone (verse 29). Don’t curse anyone. Let God fight your battles for you. For anything you want to do, always ask yourself ‘can Jesus do this?’ stop hiding behind prayers to do evil.
10. Avoid envy (verse 31-32). As a young person, don’t have an immoral person as a mentor. Don’t support evil or evil doers.
The laws and principles of God are for our prosperity not our undoing. So many shy away from them because to them they feel it is more convenient to live in the flesh than to live in the spirit.
